Frances Ponsioen is a Senior Consultant and Senior Director with Chartis Clinical Quality Solutions. She brings more than 25 years of healthcare experience to the firm, particularly in the areas of accreditation, regulatory compliance, credentialing, privileging, medical staff services operations, and centralized credentialing operations. Frances specializes in working directly with medical staff leadership and hospital executives to ensure continued compliance with all regulatory standards.
Frances works with her clients to implement the firm's credentialing methodologies and best practices. Her leadership and years of experience have brought success to hospitals, specifically in reducing credentialing turnaround times. She has been successful in leading organizations to a more efficient credentialing process by optimizing the functionality of their credentialing software system, revising and implementing core privileges, and restructuring their medical staff and medical staff governance documents.
In addition to client work, Frances has served on the local South Texas Association of Medical Staff Professionals (STAMSP) as President and Secretary. She has also served as the Director at Large of the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) and on its Governance Management & Manpower Committee, Nominating Committee, and Audit & Finance Committee.
She was the 2007 recipient of the NAMSS Joan Covell-Carpenter Award. Frances has co-authored The Medical Staff’s Guide to Overcoming Competency Assessment Challenges.
Prior to joining the firm, Frances was the Director of Medical Staff Services for the Baptist Healthcare System in San Antonio, Texas. During her career in San Antonio, she held various roles within the Medical Staff Services Department while working in multi-hospital healthcare systems.
Frances is dual certified by the NAMSS as a Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM) and a Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS).
